FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Oct 03 2011 06:01 PM | Shaggy in FAQs

Do I have to be a member of The Citadel to play?
Yes, you do have to be a member, but membership is only $20.00 per year.
You can download a copy of The Citadel Membership form here.
You can download a copy of The Citadel Safety Waiver form here.

How much does it cost to play once I am a member?
Tuesday nights are $20 (If you bring a friend, you both play for $20)
Friday nights are $25 (Women play for free on Friday night!)
Saturday play is $25
Sunday play is $25
NOTE: Special events and training events are priced differently. (Price posted with the event information)

Can I use my own BB’s when I come to play?
You can bring your own BBs and use them, provided that they are quality BBs. Here is the current list of banned bbs:

Banned BB list 2/15/2011:
  • Any Crosman Brand BB
  • Gameface BBs / Marking Ammo
  • Any metal or glass BBs
  • Any graphite or ceramic BBs
What does this change mean for Chrono? You will be required to Chrono with our magazines, or leave room in yours for a few pumps from our speed loaders at chrono.  The last thing we want is someone running 400 with .43s on the field. If you do not pass chrono with our bbs (.20′s) you would not pass with anything heavier.

Can I rent an Airsoft gun?
You can rent an Airsoft gun from The Citadel. Model will vary based on availability and are rented on a first come first served basis. Each rental includeds a full face mask and 500 BBs. Please check with us if you will need to rent a gun to ensure we will have one available for you.

Gun Rentals are $20
NOTE: The field fee and the rental fee are separate!

What is The Citadel FPS limit?
Please see our safety rules here.

Do I have to use Mid-Cap Magazines?
We would prefer that everyone use mid capacity magazines. In some games they are mandatory, but not for open skirmishes. If you do not have any mid-cap magazines, we may allow you one high-cap instead.

We do this to be new player friendly. Mid-Cap magazines are available for most AEGs in a variety of sizes and are fairly inexpensive by the box.

What is an Open Skirmish?
An open skirmish is a type of event at The Citadel that involves quick half-hour games with varying goals divided up into rounds. This type of game is quick and easy for new players and fun for new and veteran players alike.

What is a “Special Event”?
Special Events at The Citadel are structured game events that usually involve a theme or storyline and are usually referred to as an “Operation”. Events of this type are much more involved and will have more complex goals and challenges.

Do I have to wear a “Full Face Mask”?
Please see our safety rules here.

What clothing should I wear when I come to play?
Aside from comfortable boots (or sneakers), make sure to wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants. Beyond that, gloves are a wise investment. Mechanic-style gloves work great. For an open skirmish, you do not have to wear any particular camouflage color or pattern. Sticking to green, tan or black is a good idea; otherwise, wear what you are comfortable with.

Note that for Special Events, the clothing rules may be different, but they will be posted with the event information.

What is a “Close Kill” or a “Close Kill Rule”?
Please see our safety rules here.

What does “Call your hits” mean?
You will usually hear “Call your hits” when a player shoots another and the shot player does not seem to notice they have been hit. If somebody is yelling this at you, chances are you have been hit. Call yourself out and go re-spawn or wait for a medic.

Do you allow “Shooting Glasses” or “Shooters” as they are sometimes called?
Please see our safety rules here.

Can I use “Smoke” grenades at The Citadel?
Please see our safety rules here.

Can I use “Noise Makers” and/or other distraction devices at The Citadel?
They are not only allowed, they are highly encouraged. As long as they are gas-operated and do not produce a sound above 120db, they are fine. You may NOT use any noise maker that uses pyrotechnics or “blanks”.

For BB Grenades -what is the rule? If you are behind hard cover, are you still out?
As long as the grenade goes off (bbs come out) the range is ‎10ft and hard cover blocks them..

For BB Shower style Grenades, (Like M203 style or S-Thunder) what is the rule?
If you are hit by BBs from it, you are out.

Riot Shields
Riot Shields are not equal to Class III+ Ballistic Shields….. and even those cannot take sustained fire from assault rifles before they degrade and become a liability (or break your arm).

Riot Shields give some protection against small caliber pistols but mostly from bottles/rocks/etc. In real life, they are not an effective means of protection against rifle rounds, certainly not sustained automatic fire.

http://en.wikipedia....allistic_shield

Riot Shields are not to be used in The Citadel. If they are used, they are considered part of your gear, and according to game rules, gear hits eliminate you from play.

Do you have a driving map?
Posted Image
From Route 290 East get off at Exit 14 and take a right at the end of the ramp onto Grafton St (Rt 122), and the first light (at Walgreens) take a right onto the access road that leads into our rear parking lot.  From Route 290 West get off at Exit 14, and either take a right onto Grafton Street and follow the directions above, or continue to Franklin Street (diner on corner) and take a right, then take a right onto Suffolk St after the David Clark building and then a right into our front parking lot.

Where can I park?

Posted Image
Before 5pm a few cars parking to access the pro-shop is fine if you park along the Brick wall or the fence is not a big deal. After 5pm the map above is accurate.  Also please at no time park in front of the loading docks, the fire lanes, or any other places marked as a no-parking zone.
