So just to say, there is not a hardware section (though I thought there was a few months back), so this was the place to post this.
I have an ICS Ak74, and it being ICS the internals are on the better end of stock guns, though I am wondering what are important parts to upgrade as I cannot find the gearbox makeups for the specific parts, and do not feel like dropping the same amount of cash as the gun on every part.

What do you want to do to the gun? More RPM? More FPS? More consistent? More accurate?

Shim it and lube it. Its really basic but if done right it will make it quieter and drastically extend the life of it. Beyond that, it depends what you want like jwberry said. Oh and if it has plastic bushings get metal ones.

As for bushings, as they come in multiple sizes, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm, & whatnot, I am wondering what is the sizing for, the larger the better functionality, or is it gearbox specifics?

It is gearbox specific. There are 2 basic types: bushings and bearings. Metal bushings are very durable, plastic ones will oval or crack over time. Bearings have less friction, are quieter, and run smoother then bushings. They do need to be grease packed and I never them if they are low quality or on a high FPS gun (like 400+)
