As many of you know we are in the process of opening an outdoor field of our very own. We figured the time was right to review some details and answer some more questions.
We are opening a 10 Acre outdoor MOUT/CQB field at 100 Worcester-Providence Turnpike, Sutton MA. Yes this is the old drive-in on 146 South. The total build for this location will allow the construction of around 100 'shanties' although the first build wave will be around 1/2 that number.
Why are we doing MOUT/CQB? That is a simple one to answer, there are plenty of quality woodland fields in New England. RPC, UBG, Warzone, StratPlus, GroundZero, and many other part-time fields as well. The Citadel is known for CQB and this is a natural extension. We will continue to look for properties for a large woodland site down the road to provide all types of game experiences to our players. There is some woods available on the site and it will be used but the focus is clearly on the MOUT site.
We will not be using any of the existing structures for player use. They are quite run down and rehabilitating them is not in the cards during the first phase of getting things running. So no rappelling down the screen
Our intention is the field will operate on Saturday and Sunday mid-days weather permitting, there is little point in being open outdoors for a day of solid rain. Fortunately we have a lovely indoor field 15 minutes away. During vacations and the Summer we will also open up 1-2 weekdays/weeknights as well.
There will be no 'store' at the site, we will have BBs, Gas, Drinks, Rental Gear, and a few other things for sale but this is really just a field.
When will this be open? How far along is this? We have our lease in place and are waiting for a final Sutton Zoning Board public hearing on May 3d. If you live in the town of Sutton and can come to the meeting and support us that would be awesome! Please contact us at email@example.com.
Things will progress quickly if we want get this approval. Our goal is to hold a grand opening on Memorial Day weekend, with a fallback plan of a Fourth of July weekend grand-opener.
We will obviously be looking for help from people for the buildout. You would have to be over 18, and ideally have tools to bring down as that is what slows us down.
I will be uploading a bunch of additional photos soon.
